Heat Pump Systems in Türkiye

ŞEN ISI provides air-to-water heat pump project support across all 81 provinces of Türkiye, focusing on building heat load, water temperature, hydraulic design, electrical infrastructure and commissioning—not just the nominal kW on the equipment label.

How an air-to-water heat pump works

An air-source heat pump extracts low-temperature energy from outdoor air and raises its temperature through a refrigerant cycle. In an air-to-water system, that energy is transferred to a hydronic circuit serving underfloor heating, fan coils, suitable radiators or a domestic hot-water cylinder.

Real system efficiency depends on outdoor temperature, required leaving-water temperature, flow rate, defrost operation and control strategy. A catalogue COP at one test point should not be treated as the annual performance of the whole building.

  • Building heat-loss calculation
  • Design outdoor temperature
  • Required water temperature
  • Hydraulic flow rate
  • Domestic hot-water demand
02

Sizing: why floor area alone is not enough

Two buildings with the same floor area can have very different heating loads because insulation, glazing, orientation, air leakage and local design temperatures are different. A quick area-based estimate can be useful for screening, but final equipment selection should be checked against a heat-loss calculation.

Oversizing is not automatically safer. It can increase investment cost and worsen cycling at low load; undersizing can increase backup-heater operation during design conditions.

03

Radiators and underfloor heating

Underfloor heating is often a strong match because it can deliver room heat at relatively low water temperatures. Existing radiator systems may also work, but radiator output must be checked at the lower water temperatures targeted by the heat pump.

Where radiator output is insufficient, options can include larger radiators, fan-assisted emitters, fan coils or envelope improvements. The objective is to meet room load with the lowest practical water temperature.

04

Installation and commissioning

A complete project checks outdoor-unit location, airflow, defrost drainage, pipe sizing, filtration, system volume, pumps, buffer or hydraulic separation where required, electrical protection and control sensors.

Commissioning should verify actual flow, system pressure, leaving/return temperatures, weather-compensation settings, domestic-hot-water priority and alarm history. Good commissioning is part of system efficiency, not an optional final step.
